With the release of the Explorations album, Sun Raven delivers lush and emotionally bound soundscapes driven by guitar and cinematic composition.
" I've always been interested in solo instrument albums and what can be done with just the one instrument. My previous Sun Raven albums have been guitars, bass, drums and keyboard and lean more towards rock/metal. For this EP I wanted to do something more ambient and experimental, kind of like a modern classical acoustic guitar album but on electric guitar with effects," explains the artist of his record release.
This album spans a multitude of mood and texture utilizing the guitar as an extension for personal expression and lush atmosphere creation.
Blending a diverse range of styles to create a melodic, atmospheric, instrumental soundscape, Sun Raven is the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Stephen Murray.
Influenced by everything from heavy rock, and metal, to classical and jazz, Stephen has been releasing albums under the Sun Raven Moniker for 5 years and has since put out several full length albums.
His previous works rage from metal and hard rock, to indie and pop and the Explorations record is a step in a new direction, but one he's been wanting for quite some time.
Bringing his knowledge and experience for songwriting, cinematic mood, and atmosphere building to write and record an instrumental guitar record that feels spacious and introspective.
