"My good friend Jack Kurtz and I started writing this song in his dorm room. I was really ready to move my music in another direction and create some more upbeat, danceable tracks. He came up with that main surfer-rock bass riff that blew my mind and it only grew from there. The tone was aggressive, but fun and I wanted to lean into that when writing the lyrics. The song became about being happy to be done with a toxic relationship, but more so realizing the person you fell in love with isn’t all that your mind made them out to be," explains Stevie of her single.
Stevie Violet makes colorful, emotionally honest pop-rock in a playful fashion. Her music blends vulnerability and energy, moving through desire, heartbreak, and self-doubt. Stevie Violet's songs balance fun and feeling, creating something that feels emotional and alive.
Her musical approach and style come from a slew of influences but it all began with someone much more important.
"I’ve always needed some sort of artistic outlet to keep me sane, but I’ve always said I went in the musical direction because of my dad. He studied classical guitar in college and really introduced me to a lot of the artists who made me fall in love with music," says the songwriter about how it all began.
