With the release of "W.T.B.", Lunar Paths joins forces with VAUI to create a deepening experience that blends electronic vastness with dark pop undertones.
"The finished song explores the modern scourge of ‘fast fashion’, which turned out to be a perfect choice, because, spookily, it transpires that, before he sent the synth through to us for the collaboration, VAUI had felt that his new synth lines would lead to a song that was something to do with the fashion industry. Clearly, this collaboration was written in the stars," explains the band of the single.
Late in 2025, Lunar Paths (Diane Dubois and Kevin Hunter) were approached by international electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist VAUI (Marvin Acevedo), who proposed that they create a song together. This month, Lunar Paths feat. VAUI release WTB, the fruit of this collaboration. WTB dropped on June 27th on all the usual platforms, with a full length video on the duo’s YouTube channel.
In early 2026, VAUI sent the duo some recordings of synthesizers and electronic drums, with the instruction to do with them as
they pleased. Immediately, Diane began looping, layering and generally constructing the foundations for the song. Kevin
brought lush organic textures to the electronica in the form of acoustic drums that enhanced in every way what VAUI had sent.
However, it was a sample of a spy radio broadcast utilising the NATO phonetic alphabet that unlocked the song, especially the
words ‘whiskey’, ‘tango’ and ‘bravo’ (WTB). WTB stands for ‘want to buy’, which gave Diane an idea for the lyrics... and so the finished song explores the modern scourge of ‘fast fashion’. “Waiting for my cheap thrill. Now it’s in the landfill.”
Veterans of the original northern UK goth scene, ex Skeletal Family and Cold Dance duo Diane Dubois and Kevin Hunter started working together again in late 2021, after a chance encounter on social media reunited them. Despite the thousands of miles that now separate their homes and studios — they have yet to meet again face to face, and all their work to date has been done online — they soon discovered that they had retained an uncannily intuitive feel for each other’s creative processes. Each new track astounds and surprises, because each one is different from its predecessors – and yet, they do undeniably have a sound that is recognizably ‘Lunar Paths’. VAUI is the pseudonym of the Colombian based multi-instrumentalist and international electronic music producer, Marvin Acevedo.
