"This record comes from place of personal growth and a new chapter in my life as a musician and songwriter. I love gardening and especially enjoy planting moonflowers. They are late bloomers that require patience and trusting the process before they vine and bloom in the early-Autumn. Having come off of a record project finishing the Rough Lovers self-titled album, I had songs that fit this metaphor to a tee. I had seeds to plant and I gave them time to bloom, in song," explains Justin of the record.
NASHVILLE, TN — Renowned independent Americana and neo-folk artist Justin Alan Payne has officially hit the road for a massive domestic solo tour, spanning from June through October 2026. Known for capturing rooms with an uncompromising blend of angst and vulnerability, the East Nashville staple is bringing his lyrically eloquent, masterful, and multi-genre live performances back to audiences across the United States.
The extensive tour marks a highly anticipated return to regional stages, including recent standout stops like a free solo set at Kirby’s in Wichita, Kansas—marking his first appearance at that legendary venue—and highly anticipated performances at Axelrad in Houston, Texas.
The tour highlights material from his newly released solo LP, Moonflower, which debuted digitally on May 1 via Bandcamp and major streaming platforms. Recorded alongside some of Nashville’s finest session players at the historic Bombshelter Studio in East Nashville, the 8-track album represents a poignant new chapter for the singer-songwriter. Produced by Jeremy Bernstein, Moonflower seamlessly blends Americana, country, pop, and indie folk, drawing stylistic comparisons to artists like Elvis Costello and Adrianne Lenker.
"Being a completely unsigned musician right now is a godsend," says Payne, reflecting on his fiercely independent approach to the changing industry landscape.
