With the release of the "Smile Paradise" single, Joshua McCooey delivers a soiree of pop tonality that feels good to listen to as it spreads an uplifting message.
"Smile Paradise” is inspired by getting homesick for California after a year in New York City. It's my version of California, a place where people greet each other with a fist bump and smile.
But the song is more than just a song, it's a feeling. It's about the joy of sharing a smile with someone, the warmth of the California sun, and the sense of community that comes from being in a place where everyone is welcome. I hope that when people listen to this song, they feel a little bit of that paradise, no matter where they are," explains Joshua of his single.
Joshua McCooey began his musical journey alongside his dad, a musician who began releasing his own material in 2020 as a form of staying mentally healthy. Joshua began writing that same year.
Joshua worked on songs, but life got in the way, and they never got completed until one finally did.
Once Joshua wrote a track he was really proud of, he got the itch, and it hasn't stopped since.
"My music became my own personal diary of all of my life experiences. Now, every time I look back at an old song, I’m reminded of how I started, and what I’ve learned since then. I still have so much more to learn, but I’m ecstatic that, through my music, people will be able to take that journey with me," says Joshua.
"Smile Paradise" follows several singles and an EP release and serve as a testament to where he is at with his sound right now.
