With the release of the I Should Have Known The Things You Never Said double-album, Icarus Phoenix delivers a massive personality in the form of honest songs that bring out folk and pop-rock combined with some of the best elements of classic singer-songwriter and pop, all built into something that showcases a beautiful and authentic atmosphere.
"I wrote this album essentially in the year after getting divorced. I had about 40 songs and oftentimes, the songs you don't think much of end up coming together nicely and the ones you were excited about end up coming out flat. Basically, you never know what's going to happen in the studio. Recording a lot of songs usually gives you the options to come up with a solid 10 song album. The problem of course, is that everyone likes different songs, people have different taste and well, why not put them all out in the order they were recorded? " explains songwriter Drew Danburry of the release.
Icarus Phoenix is from Baltimore, MD. Its members are Drew Danburry (gtr/vox), Eli Sims (drums), Leena Rhodes (gtr/vox/synth), Brendan Russell (bass), Peyton Rodeffer (gtr/vox/etc) as well as Andrew Young (drums, percussion). The band originally formed in Missoula, Montana (2020) and has had multiple lineups, one of them playing Treefort Music Fest in Boise, ID (2021).
Drew Danburry has independently toured and released records since 2002. He's released over 400 songs on over 20 albums/13 EPs and played 800 + shows worldwide. Including 2 Daytrotter sessions, 3 invitations to Pop Montreal, and 1 to Pygmalion Music Festival. He's accomplished this long list of achievements almost entirely DIY.
