With the release of the "Man's Journey" single, Bgbgb gets reflective and touches on some of the importance and meaning behind being a man. His soulful approach breeds fresh and classic sounds as the track sheds some light on his thinking and personality.
Man's Journey was inspired by the song I Don't Really Want to Cry No More by Tina Turner. I wanted to write a male version of this song but in relation to a man's life experience. To me this song is about my desire for men to really take stock of their life and not take it for granted as well as a chance to learn from their mistakes to become better people." Bgbgb
So How did it all begin for Bgbgb? The artist explains, "I've always sang as a child but the interesting thing about my musical journey was that I never knew I could sing until I was sixteen when my mother validated that fact for me. After being made aware of that, I carried on with my ambitions of wanting to work in the media industry even though by the time I was at university, my friends started validating my abilities as a singer. That would carry on throughout my adult life with other friends as well as work colleagues and housemates saying the same thing to me: 'Why aren't you doing this as a career?' I made the final decision to become an artist in late 2015 when I started working with a producer by the name of Brando Walker who helped me record a demo for my first ever recorded song Hello World. We recorded the finalized version over a month later in 2016 which is currently on my SoundCloud. So between 2016-2017 I'd put out songs via that platform. It was only from 2020 onwards that I started releasing singles and albums via streaming platforms.
Having over a decade of experience as an artist, Bgbgb has always innovated and looked to evolve musically. He puts pieces of himself into the music and that is part of what resonates.
"When I had started, I was working with just the one producer whose sound was grounded in Pop R&B Funk that leaned into a very old school sound. As much as I loved the work we did together, what I didn't realize was that my sound had become static in terms of sounding too old school until it was pointed out by my brother. Taking this into consideration, I had started diversifying my sound by working with other producers who added a Hip Hop/current flavor to my sound at time. Through that decision, I now dabble in different genres all the while never forgetting my R&B roots and always trying to be on the fine line between incorporating a new sound and blending it with old school sensitivities." says the artist.
"Man's Journey" is a testament to where he is at with his sound right now.
The single is available on all major platforms and Bgbgb is also available for interviews upon request.
