Via Ripa’s new release “Summer is Dead” is an ode to growing up and moving on, while still holding onto your apprehensions of the past.
The new release totes two new tracks, the self titled Summer is Dead and the B-side, Jaws.
Summer is Dead is surf blues inspired, and deals with growing up and coming to terms with the loss of your adolescence. Jaws features prominent guitar work and muses about friendships in your life that seemed like they would last forever, but like all things, they come to an end. This is Via Ripa’s second release, with their self titled EP released in June of 2020.
Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a real understanding of where Via Ripa is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.
"Each song that we write influences the next; we learn how to play and create together as we continue to write new music. The EP is for those who want a perfect summer soundtrack, or those who want to dig in deep to some more stylistically challenging music" says the band of creating the record.
Via Ripa began in summer of 2019 when guitarist / vocalist only known as Mystery Mike and guitarist Matt Smentkowski got together with bassist Sean Cuddy to begin playing together. Soon after, drummer Nick Marinelli joined and the lineup was complete. Writing and recording the Via Ripa EP during the winter months of 2019 took up the focus of the group until Feb 2020 when they began to perform live.
The self titled Via Ripa EP is a testament to where they are at with their sound right now.
Via Ripa is available now for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the songwriter is already working on new material for upcoming releases.
