With the release of their brand new, self titled EP, Via Ripa bends genres together to create a sound familiar, but all its own. Laced with lush guitar tones, a youthful energy, and plenty of pop overtone, the record boasts the aesthetic of surf rock anthems.
The first featured track, “Fingertips" grabs you with it's infectious garage rock style riff, followed by it's building arrangement allowing it to breathe as it plays on.
"'Fingertips' is about the things in life that we cannot comprehend or explain, and being ok with the notion that there are things that we don’t understand. Acceptance." explains the band.
Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a real understanding of where Via Ripa is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.
"Each song that we write influences the next; we learn how to play and create together as we continue to write new music. The EP is for those who want a perfect summer soundtrack, or those who want to dig in deep to some more stylistically challenging music" says the band of creating the record.
Via Ripa began in summer of 2019 when guitarist / vocalist only known as Mystery Mike and guitarist Matt Smentkowski got together with bassist Sean Cuddy to begin playing together. Soon after, drummer Nick Marinelli joined and the lineup was complete. Writing and recording the Via Ripa EP during the winter months of 2019 took up the focus of the group until Feb 2020 when they began to perform live.
The self titled Via Ripa EP is a testament to where they are at with their sound right now.
Via Ripa is available now for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the songwriter is already working on new material for upcoming releases.
