With the release of the Def Cat EP, The Summit takes a fresh approach to genre crossing to give the record a life all it's own. Lush with addictive progressions, loads of horn sections, and persistent pop undertones, the record boasts the aesthetic of indie rock anthems.

The first single, “Crazy for Life", immediately grabs you with it's infectious dark pop sensibility, followed by it's ever building arrangement giving the track the ability to breathe and grow as it plays on.

"The songs kinda about murder. Yikes. It’s basically a metaphor about for rejection and the severity of our emotions when we feel rejected. The title of the song focuses on the fact that being Crazy for Love drives you to be Crazy for Life." explains songwriter Timothy LaRoque of the bands single.

Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a real understanding of where The Summit is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.

"I think the single just gives a sneak peek on what we’ve got goin on, it’s a more diverse song, being that if you listen to a past single of ours (The Red Sea) you’ll see they’re pretty different I’d say in terms of genres. Crazy for Life does a good job at displaying the versatility that goes on with our music, both lyrically and musically.. ESPECIALLY musically.. the organ solo ♥️♥️♥️)" says the band of creating the record.

Although their  songs feature plenty of additional instrumentation, the core members of The Summit met in high school. Timothy LaRoque, Anthony Bucci, Lenny Arias, and Arturo Llapa all came together at South Broward High in Florida and almost immediately found music as their common interest. This made it easier to talk about what music they wanted to create themselves. As time went on, they performed at several school events and eventually began booking gigs outside of the school. Recruiting players for performances and recordings, the band started building their sound to what it is today.

The Def Cat EP is a  prequel to their upcoming full length album set to be released later this year and serves as a testament to where they are at with their sound right now.

Def Cat  is available now for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the band is focusing performances to support the upcoming LP.
