With the release of the Alright album, Sam Hankins takes the best parts of some classic genres and builds a vibe all his own. Laced with addictive melodies, lush tones, and plenty of character, the record boasts the aesthetic of jazz and soul anthems.

"

"This album has been a long labor of love throughout these past 3 years. Going through COVID has giving me lots to reflect on my life; the many challenges that I am faced with each and every day. I was going through a dark and rough time with the passing  of my mother who was my rock, supporter and biggest fan in my life. She understood the many life challenges that a musician goes through having been married to one for over 30+ years before my father was killed in a car accident.

I started writing these tracks during COVID and then lost my mother during this time.

COVID was a trying period for me and also for many others in this world.  I wanted to write what I felt at that time and to share a more positive message and sound to my fans with this CD.

I can hear my mother in my ear telling me to never give up, your time will come and never stop believing in yourself. This CD “Alright” means a lot to me because my mother has been with me throughout my music career making sure I keep my musical journey alive. Composing this CD called “Alright”, the title says it all. We are all going to make it through rough times, and it will be followed by good times. But remember things are going to be “ALRIGHT" in your life,”  explains Sam of the release.

Sam Hankins started his musical journey with the fortune of being born into a musical family as his father Samuel Hankins Sr. encouraged him to pick up the guitar.

It was in middle school that Hankins switched his trademark instrument over to trumpet and eventually began playing in orchestras, churches, and professional bands.

Before venturing on as a solo artist, Sam performed with the likes of Al Jarreau, Clark Terry, The O’Jays, The Temptations, The Dells, The Impressions, Aretha Franklin and the Glenn Miller Big Band.

At a certain point, Sam had realized he'd composed over 150 pieces of music and with his wife's encouragement, he moved on to focusing on recording and releasing the music.

From 2012 to 2017 Sam had released four CD's all with radio play and have collectively won 25 independent music awards and in 2017, the artist won 9 independent artist awards at the Indie Music Channel Awards (IMC) ceremony in Hollywood amongst musicians that submitted from all over the world.

The Alright album is a testament to where he is at with his sound right now.

"Over the past 15 years, each of my CDs have shown growth in my music composition and there is more depth to my trumpet playing. My melodies are becoming catchier to the listener's ears and my songs are telling a story with different musical styles on my 5 different CDs," says Sam of his releases.

Alright is available for streaming and download on all major outlets right now.
