With the release of the Attics EP, Nice Try Kid takes a fresh approach to some classic genres and gives the record a life all its own. Laced with addictive progressions, an edgy alternative rock undertone, and a youthful energy, the record boasts the aesthetic of pop punk anthems.
The first single, “Gray" immediately grabs you with it's infectious guitar and vocal melodies, followed by it's building arrangement allowing it to breathe as it plays on.
"Lyrically, this song was a concept that I've tried to wrap my head around a lot over the years. The older I've got, the more I've tried to make sense out of life, and justify in my mind, how things actually are... We all grow up as innocent blank canvases, learning right from wrong, and black from white. All we learn in the end is that nothing makes sense and that everything is one giant shade of gray!" explains vocalist and guitarist Bryan Gamari of the bands single.
Although the single speaks volumes for the EP, to get a real understanding of where Nice Try kid is coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.
"We've been a band for ten years now.... that's a long ass time as far as any band is concerned! Haha, I'd like to say we trimmed the fat and put out a record that front to back not only stands on its own... but speaks for itself.... lyrically.... it's some of the most honest work I've ever written" says Bryan of creating the album while his brother and lead guitarist Tom Gamari simply adds "We really tucked in our shirts on this one!"
Nice Try kid is a project technically founded in 2010 when three people went looking for a drum kit to attract a drummer. Instead they found a drummer in the midst of selling his kit to start a new life. That drummer ended up joining the project and a new life began, for all of them.
Rehearsing in old barns and basements, the band began writing songs together until they eventually found a spot to practice in a performing arts spot in an old church. Soon after they moved the space to an old bus garage with enough space to install a ramp so everyone could spend the day skating and rehearsing. After that, they were invited to play in their bass players attic. Throughout these times they created their first record All Hit Wonders (released in 2013) and began to grow their fan base.
Five albums and ten years later, Attics was finally born and serves as a testament to where the band is at with their sound right now.
Attics is available now for streaming and downloads on most major digital outlets and the band is already working on new material for upcoming releases.
