Matthew Presidente

With the release of "Washington", Matthew Presidente takes a fresh approach to an honest and heartfelt-rock style. Laced with addictive melodies, warm undertones, and plenty of character, the record boasts the aesthetic of timeless contemporary rock anthems.

"In this road trip anthem, we are channeling Americana heartland rock archetypes. It’s a song for those who like to hit the road just to see where it takes them and to find adventure along the way. It’s about looking back on your history as you get older, and realizing there is still so much to look forward to.

I’ve been drafting this song for many years, but it really came together working with my band. Brad Pedwell brings the acoustic rock feel with guitars on this song, Ian Malinski has a gorgeous baseline and Mikey Chamzuk drums glue the whole thing together," explains Matthew of his process," explains Matthew of his single.

Although the single speaks volumes for Matthew, to get a full understanding of where he is coming from, it's best to dig into his back catalogue of releases.

Hailing from Vancouver, Matthew Presidente has had plenty of experience performing as a solo artist and with a full band behind him and his piano based performances boast a refreshing energy.

Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matty has showcased his original material at Vancouver venues such as The Fox, The Chapel, The Roxy, The Railway Club, XYYVR and The Hollywood. An advocate for queer art, he has been enthusiastically recognized on the Vancouver Pride stages and across the province.

With several self-released albums and singles under his belt, this year he’s taken the leap to do music full time. Along with producer Matt Roach (Rain City Recorders), he’s currently finishing a new full-band album with songs speaking of life changes, personal empowerment and ultimately evolution.

"Washington" is among the latest and serves as a testament to where he is at with his sound right now.
