With the release of "Sungold", Matthew Presidente takes a fresh approach to an edgy and heartfelt-rock style. Laced with addictive melodies, warm undertones, and plenty of character, the record boasts the aesthetic of timeless contemporary rock anthems.
"These days I’m very much inspired by evolution and change! As I’m getting older and seeing a wider perspective, I’m appreciating the nuances that inspire change in a person's life. Whether that be a pandemic, a career decision, loss, success, travel, etc. Many of my new songs are focused around finding your own path, even if it’s not what is expected of you." explains Matthew of his process.
Although the single speaks volumes for Matthew, to get a full understanding of where he is coming from, it's best to dig into his back catalogue of releases.
Hailing from Vancouver, Matthew Presidente has had plenty of experience performing as a solo artist and with a full band behind him and his piano based performances boast a refreshing energy.
Referred to as “one of — if not — the best singer/songwriters our LGBT scene has” by Xtra Magazine (Vancouver), Matty has showcased his original material at Vancouver venues such as The Fox, The Chapel, The Roxy, The Railway Club, XYYVR and The Hollywood. An advocate for queer art, he has been enthusiastically recognized on the Vancouver Pride stages and across the province.
With several self-released albums and singles under his belt, this year he’s taken the leap to do music full time. Along with producer Matt Roach (Rain City Recorders), he’s currently finishing a new full-band album with songs speaking of life changes, personal empowerment and ultimately evolution.
"Sungold" is among the latest and serves as a testament to where he is at with his sound right now.
