With the release of "Friendly Reminder", Lipstick Stains takes a new approach to some classic genres to create something all their own. Laced with character, an edgy and colorful undertone, and plenty of hooks, the record boasts the aesthetic of alternative pop rock anthems.
"Friendly Reminder" is about the anguish of doing your occupational best while still getting shit on and micromanaged day in and day out. The lyrics embody what it feels like when you're trying to hold yourself and everyone else together while everything around you is falling apart, inevitably leading to a major mental break. The track demonstrates the psychological and all-too-relatable torment experienced when putting your best foot forward everyday at your job, while working for passive-aggressive, egotistical, narcissistic, money and power-hungry employers, who will never have your best interest at heart, no matter how much they say they do. When your livelihood pursuits take your career down this road of insanity, "Friendly Reminder" gives you that release of running away and never looking back. " explains the band of the single.
Although the singles speak volumes for the band, to get a full understanding of where Lipstick Stains is really coming from, their previous releases should be heard as well.
“We typically like to let the creative juices flow when bringing a new song to life. While writing, we usually don't put much thought into the song's finished product - we just let the universe take the lead and buckle up for a ride on the melodic journey.” says the band of writing new songs.
Lipstick Stains began in 2018 with the release of the Garter Straps & Bottle Caps EP which was completed by only Xanthe (vocals) and Ryan (guitar). The idea was to find more members to join and finish the full line up. The band is now joined by Zak (bass) and Michael (drums) and released the Open Your Eyes and Controlled Chaos along with recently signing to Emotions False Records with the previously released "Discoteca" single.
"Friendly Reminder" is a testament to where they are at with their sound right now.
