With the release of Sea of Dreams EP, Caleb Hester takes a new approach to blending genres to create something all his own. Laced with character, a crisp undertone, and memorable hooks, the record boasts the aesthetic of acoustic-folk pop anthems.

The first single and title track, "Sea of Dreams" grabs you with a lush sound and a catchy progression and only grows from there.

"The lyrical writing process for this song was somewhat abstract, as in I wasn’t setting out to tell a specific story. I want the lyrics to convey an image in the listener’s mind and take them out of the stress of their lives and into a beautiful, serene scene. The song explores themes of escapism and, as the title suggests, the experience of dreaming. All in all, I would say it is a song about finding inner peace and contentment." explains the songwriter of his single.

Although the singles speak volumes for the EP, to get a full understanding of where Caleb is really coming from, it should be heard in its entirety.

“As is the case for much of the EP, the heart of the song is acoustic guitar strumming and acoustic bass. I am influenced by many genres, but acoustic and folk music is a true love of mine. My songs blend this acoustic sound with an indie feel and pop song structure, although I don’t limit myself in terms of genre. The basic instrumentation is embellished at times by guitar fingerpicking, electric guitar licks and riffs, and sprinkles of keys and synth. In terms of vocals, I wanted a natural, minimally processed sound on this project. Layers of harmonies across the EP help to create a soundscape and draw the listener’s ear into certain lyrical lines.” says Hester of his creation process now.

Caleb Hester began his musical journey at a young age and has been singing all his life. Continuing on through high school performing with acapella and jazz groups, the artist paved his path in many ways.

Hester studies both vocal performance and audio engineering and puts his knowledge and experience to use in his home studio as he builds and executes his technique for recording his music.

Sea of Dreams is a testament to where he is at with his music right now.
